I wish Canada had any. Then they'd be CF-4's.
Which is a clue to the next riddle.

Woohoo! I was an Aerospace Engineering major at Embry Riddle. I'd be tarred and feathered if I wasn't able to identify it.

Also correct!

Agreed.
That's like, "Huh. I dunno. What kind of car is that?"
"It's a Beetle, you fuckwit. A BEETLE!"

Ah, of course. The F-18.

Going through my limited planelopnik knowledge (I need to work on that) I'm thinking "I know this! I know this! I know this! Crap! What is this?! F4 Phantom? F4 Phantom!"
![]() 10/02/2013 at 21:08 |

Man, I am way off my A-game. I can't tell if it's an FG.1 or an FGR.2.

It is a Phantom, but its been modified by the brits to take a Spey Turbofan, in place of the J-79 Turbojet. It had some other mods to for RAF use.
![]() 10/02/2013 at 21:10 |

Or CF-18, too.

FGR 2, I believe. But even that goes beyond my planeopnik knowledge.

"Huh, that's funny lookin" then dead.

Am I the only one who finds airplane graveyards strangely arousing?
![]() 10/02/2013 at 21:16 |

Haha.
When I read that I imagined someone trying to rob someone else with a black powder musket only to have a ACR stuck in their face.

Nope. Not. At. All.
Amazing shot of a absolutely beautiful plane
![]() 10/02/2013 at 21:17 |

Ha!
The Ruskies proved that a long time ago. Aerodynamics? Pish posh. Let's just use a shit ton of thrust. Steering? Fuck it.
![]() 10/02/2013 at 21:19 |

Agreed.
As a species, we're capable of some pretty amazing shit.

I suppose "strangely" would be open for debate. But no. =)

Still funny-looking, whether or not it's dangerous.
Like big dudes with facial tats.

Strangely, as in, the same sort of erection I get when I see a really expensive car being taken away from a really rich kid by some really angry cops.

No, let's not.
Okay.
![]() 10/02/2013 at 22:24 |

Yeah, I use it sometimes. I kinda always thought it was the easy way out. I like to feel good when I find something on my own.
![]() 10/02/2013 at 22:27 |
|
Are you kidding?
I fucking hate flying. But I love how much I hate it.
It's like getting on a track, or maybe a strip. That Oh-Holy-Shit factor is just such a thrill. Having said that, I'd gladly ride passenger in a racecar being driven by a professional but I'd probably turn down a ride in a fighter jet with a fighter pilot at the stick for the same reason I'd be like, "Yeah, okay, two fingers is fine. But if you try for three, I'm going to punch you in the teeth woman!" There's only so much I can take.

F.
And FG1 or FGR2 according to Pete, but that exceeds my plane know-what.

I think Annie would agree.

The reason we don't use the AUG is because of politics and old farts that refused to face modern technology. It's a little more complicated than that, but I gotta crash.
On the other hand, the US Customs issues either the 16" or 18" black AUG A1.

I was just being a dink.
Sorry.
There's also the issue of image, which was heavily discussed... at least by DND, that I know of and among the myriad reasons the bullpup style rifles weren't issued initially was "image" which I think is laughable. But, outside of DND, the Sheriffs were looking too but, for one of the same reasons they're not big fans of the Dodge Chargers, they look to aggressive. I get that for LEO's operating in the community, the AUG and the Charger are both very aggressive looking tools and a more traditional firearm creates a more traditionally accepted image...
... all of which is bullshit, as I say that we need to give our LEO's and our soldiers the best tools to do the job. Which isn't the Charger, by the way... It's just that we're not getting any, yes any for any agencies in Canada... the Caprice PPV.
Of the officers I've spoken to who were fortunate to get to test the Caprice alongside the Challenger and the Ford every single one to a man or a woman has said they prefer the Ford and the Chevy over the Dodge. The Dodge has plenty of get up and go, but it's incredibly cramped.
Best tool for the job, I say.

I thought about the upside down intercept in Top Gun, personally.
Maybe the pilot took a picture?

Once you've had one of these fly over a ship your on, you never forget the shape. The Phantom was a great name for these.

Hahaha!
Thankfully, I've never been in that situation. But I'd wager you're right!

Well, the British ones had some noteworthy modifications. If I'm not mistaken the naval F-4s had an extended nose gear strut to shorten their takeoff distance due to British carrier decks not being as large as American ones.
